The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has now released the 2018 ICD-10-CM files.  These files include the ICD.10 coding updates to be used effective with dates of service from October 1, 2017, through September 30, 2018.
As a reputable MEDICAL BILLING SERVICE providing end-to-end Revenue Cycle Management services, you will not suffer from denied claims, delayed (or lost) revenue if you are currently a client.  MBO is ready for the change(s), which include 363 new codes, 142 deleted codes and more than 250 revised codes, some of which weren’t included in the proposed changes but are part of the change(s) nonetheless.  That’s a total of 755 changes!
 Some areas to be aware of include Endocrine, Nutritional and Metabolic Diseases with the following additions:
  • E11.1 Type 2 diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis
  • E11.10 Type 2 diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis without coma
  • E11.11 Type 2 diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis with coma

There are also new codes for myocardial infarction and heart failure that deserve your immediate attention.

Chapter 2, of the Neoplasms section will include some new codes as well.
